Jones Expresses Optimism Amid Ongoing Contract Talks with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott
As the Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver CeeDee Lamb remains on holdout, owner and general manager Jerry Jones stated on Tuesday that the discussions about a contract extension are “promising.” However, the exact implications are unclear, as negotiations have been ongoing at various times during the training camp without a conclusion. The season opener against the Cleveland Browns is set for September 8.
When asked about the likelihood of finalizing a deal, Jones replied, “I am optimistic, though it might not sound very promising. I truly believe we’ll reach an agreement. I don’t want to speak for him, but we wouldn’t have made the offer if we didn’t want him here.”
Regarding concerns about CeeDee Lamb missing time, Jones stated, “I don’t mean to be insensitive, but my level of concern hasn’t increased. We’re in a good position and have promising discussions ongoing. It’s a matter of both sides being in sync, and I’m confident that we’re giving it the right amount of attention.”
Jones also mentioned ongoing talks with quarterback Dak Prescott. “It’s important for fans to understand that these are often discussions about existing contracts. Even with time left on a contract, negotiations can happen. We’re working through it, but we aim to ensure it doesn’t impact our preparation or performance on opening day.”
