Unexpectedly Mims declared for the 2024 NFL draft. The Georgia tackle only has seven starts under his belt, but in those seven games was one of the best tackles in the NCAA. Mims entered the combine at 6’8 340 lbs., and tested very well. While being inexperienced, the steelers should be a good fit, pairing him back with multiple Georgia bulldogs.

secondary and offensive line, here is who the Steelers could look to draft in the first round to be their next superstar.

: Terrion Arnold (CB, Alabama)

The 6’0 190 lbs. Alabama standout looks to be the consensuses number one corner in the 2024 class. In 2023 Arnold accounted for five interceptions and 12 passes defended. Playing the CB two spot for the Crimson Tide, Arnold should be a great fit across the field from Joey Porter Jr.

The Toledo corner has been flying up draft boards this offseason. Mitchell came into the offseason as a borderline first round pick after his incredible 2022 season, where he had five interceptions and two touchdowns. He followed that up with another good season with 18 passes defended. Mitchell is an aggressive speedy corner that would fit the steelers secondary

Regarded as the top interior offensive lineman in the class, Powers-Johnson has been dominant for the ducks. With an incredible senior bowl, the Oregon center boosted his stock to the mid first round. With the release of Mason Cole, the Steelers have a massive hole at center and JPJ could fill and be the next great Pittsburgh center.

#5: Troy Fautanu (T, Washington

Fautanu played left tackle for the Washington Huskies and was a large part for them making it to the national championship. Many questions arose around Troy Fautanu during the 2024 draft process, Many analyst thought Fautanu would have to move into guard, as he would be too small to play tackle in the NFL. At the 2024 NFL combine he proved them wrong, Fautanu messed in at 6’4 312lbs, with 34 1/2″ arms. With the long arms, it seems the Washington Huskie could play anywhere on the offensive line, and could slot into and open hole in the Steelers offensive line.
