Aston Martin announce NEW F1 driver signing for 2025
Aston Martin has announced a key addition to its team ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, confirming Daniel Juncadella as their new Simulator Driver.
The Spanish racer, who brings extensive experience in single-seaters and sportscars, is set to bolster the Silverstone-based outfit as they aim to climb the grid.
The 2024 season was challenging for Aston Martin, with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll underwhelming in the AMR24.
After a strong 2023 season that saw several podium finishes, the team regressed in 2024, finishing fifth in the Constructors’ Championship.
However, optimism surrounds their future, with renowned aerodynamicist Adrian Newey set to join the team in 2025.
Juncadella’s appointment is part of Aston Martin’s efforts to rebuild and return to competitiveness.
The 33-year-old has been actively involved with the team, starting his simulator duties during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week.
He operates from the AMR Technology Campus (AMRTC) in Silverstone, where he will continue to contribute to the team’s development.
Juncadella is no stranger to the Aston Martin setup, having previously served as a Reserve Driver for the team in 2014.
His recent racing career has seen him competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with TF Sport, further solidifying his credentials as a versatile and skilled driver.
In a statement, Juncadella expressed his excitement about the new role. “I’m thrilled to join Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team as a Simulator Driver,” he said.
“The facilities at the AMRTC are state-of-the-art, and the team’s ambition and determination are clear. I’m eager to contribute to their progress and success.”
This appointment signals Aston Martin’s intent to bounce back stronger in 2025.
With a fresh approach, key technical talent in Adrian Newey, and a committed team, the foundation is being laid for a return to championship contention.
While challenges remain, the team’s long-term vision and strategic moves highlight their determination to achieve their goals.
