Aston Martin handed huge BLOW after Newey 2026 statement issued

Martin has recently faced a major setback following a statement from Adrian Newey, their newly appointed design chief, regarding the future of Formula 1. Newey, who joined Aston Martin after leaving his long-time position at Red Bull last season, has been an integral part of Red Bull’s success, contributing to 13 titles across two dominant periods with the team. He suggested that it could take at least another year before Aston Martin becomes a serious contender for the championship, signaling that significant progress is still needed to close the performance gap with the top teams.

Looking ahead to 2026, Formula 1 will see a major shake-up with the introduction of new engine regulations. The sport aims to become more sustainable and appealing to fans by implementing these changes. Newey, who has already voiced his thoughts on the upcoming shift, emphasized the critical importance of teams adapting to the new rules quickly. He warned that teams who fail to get a head start with the changes could find themselves at a significant disadvantage in the future.

Newey reflected on the lessons learned from the 2014 introduction of hybrid engines, which caught many teams off guard, including those challenging Mercedes
