British Star Abbi Pulling Clinches Emotional F1 Academy Championship at Qatar Grand Prix

British racing sensation Abbi Pulling has secured the 2024 F1 Academy title in an emotional finale at the Qatar Grand Prix, solidifying her place as one of the brightest young talents in motorsport. Backed by Alpine, Pulling’s dominance throughout the 2024 season culminated in this hard-earned victory, marking a career-defining moment for the rising star.

Pulling’s journey to the championship has been nothing short of remarkable. Over the course of the season, she has claimed seven race wins and consistently maintained a comfortable lead over her closest rival, Doriane Pin. While Pin managed to claim victory in Qatar, it was Pulling’s second-place finish that proved enough to seal the championship title. This result marked her first title in the F1 Academy series, capping off an outstanding year filled with success and growth.

The Qatar Grand Prix saw Pulling battle it out with her competitors in what turned out to be a thrilling race. Pin, the Ferrari-backed driver, emerged victorious in Qatar, but Pulling’s second-place finish was all she needed to secure the championship. Ferrari’s other rising star, Maya Weug, completed the podium, finishing third after being overtaken by Pulling on the opening lap of the race. Weug’s performance throughout the season had been strong, but Pulling’s consistency and determination ultimately made the difference in the championship standings.

With this victory, Abbi Pulling’s career has taken a major step forward. As part of her reward for winning the 2024 F1 Academy title, she will receive a fully funded seat with Rodin Motorsport in GB3 for the 2025 season. In addition to securing her place in GB3, Pulling will also benefit from 20 days of testing with the Rodin Motorsport team, giving her valuable track time as she prepares for the next stage of her racing career.

The F1 Academy, now in its second year, has grown significantly in visibility and prestige. For the 2024 season, the series accompanied Formula 1 for seven races on the calendar, giving its drivers unprecedented exposure on the world stage. This year, the series has received substantial support from all 10 F1 teams, each of which backed one of the drivers competing in the F1 Academy. In addition, high-profile sponsors such as makeup brand Charlotte Tilbury have contributed to the series’ growing popularity, helping to raise its profile among fans and within the motorsport community.

Pulling’s emotional reaction to her championship victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication she has put into her craft. Speaking over team radio after the race at Lusail, the British driver was overcome with emotion, thanking those who had supported her along the way. “Thank you so much to every single person. My family, my dad… I’m so happy!” she exclaimed, her voice filled with tears of joy.

Although the F1 Academy championship has been decided, the series still has more action to offer. A second race will take place on Sunday at the Qatar Grand Prix, and the F1 Academy will return for its final event of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where drivers will look to finish the year on a high note.

As the 2024 F1 Academy champion, Abbi Pulling’s future looks incredibly bright. Her success in the series has not only earned her accolades but also opened the door to further opportunities in motorsport. With a GB3 seat secured and valuable testing time ahead, Pulling is well-positioned to continue her rise through the ranks of motorsport, and her championship win will surely be remembered as a pivotal moment in her promising career.
