Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernandez… behind 2024 All-S… Read More.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has been making waves this MLB season, justifying every cent of his one-year free-agent contract.
His exceptional performance earned him a spot on the National League team for the MLB All-Star Game.
Initially, he was chosen by his peers with 462 votes and narrowly missed the top three spots in fan voting, finishing fourth.
However, he was ultimately given the nod after San Diego Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. suffered an injury.
Hernandez now aims to maintain his form into the postseason for the Dodgers.
In an interview with Dodgers reporter Kirsten Watson, Hernandez shared insights into his game-day preparations, which have significantly contributed to his All-Star selection.
He emphasized the importance of consistency and focusing on the smaller aspects of the game. “It’s…the way that you prepare yourself,” Hernandez explained.
He believes that rather than trying to prove his capabilities over a whole season, it is crucial to stay consistent with his work and let the results follow. “At the end of the day, you work for it.
You’re trying to not be perfect; I’m trying to do the little things because I know if I do the little things the big things are gonna happen during games.”
Hernandez elaborated on his focus on consistency, saying, “For me, it’s more about getting focused on the things that I need to do to be consistent.”
This approach has evidently paid off, as his stellar play has been a significant factor in the Dodgers’ success this season.
During the interview, Hernandez also reflected on the experience of playing alongside teammates like Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts.
He remarked on the difference between playing with young, talented players and seasoned superstars like Ohtani, Freeman, and Betts. “They’re really good. They’re superstars. It’s not the same when you’re surrounded by [Ohtani, Freeman, Betts].
Superstars that have been having success for more than ten years in the big leagues. Watching them work, watching them prepare themselves, it’s a little different,” he noted.
Hernandez finds inspiration in observing their routines and incorporating aspects of their preparation into his own, aiming to enhance his performance by learning from their successful strategies.
The Dodgers are currently vying for postseason positioning in the National League West standings.
Despite a recent loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, they maintain the top spot in the NL West with a 66-48 record, the second-best in the league behind the Phillies.
However, their recent performance has raised some concerns among fans about whether they can build enough momentum to sustain them through the final stretch of the season.
Hernandez’s journey this season underscores the significance of preparation, consistency, and learning from the best.
As he continues to excel, his contributions will be crucial for the Dodgers as they push towards the postseason.
His approach to the game, focusing on the smaller, consistent efforts rather than perfection, serves as a valuable lesson for any athlete aiming for sustained success.
The Dodgers, with their strong roster and Hernandez’s outstanding performance, are well-positioned for a competitive postseason run.
