Eddie Jordan tells Ferrari to rip up Lewis Hamilton’s contract and ‘find a way out’

Eddie Jordan has urged Ferrari to reconsider their rumored deal with Lewis Hamilton following the seven-time World Champion’s self-critical remarks and struggles during the 2023 Formula 1 season.

Speaking on the Formula For Success Podcast, Jordan suggested Ferrari should find a way out of Hamilton’s contract before he even races for the team.

Hamilton’s time with Mercedes, spanning 12 years, is widely regarded as one of the most successful partnerships in F1 history, producing six Drivers’ Championships and eight Constructors’ titles.

However, both Hamilton and Mercedes have faced a challenging season, with the team struggling to keep up with the dominant contenders.

Hamilton has also endured a tough campaign, being outqualified 18-5 by teammate George Russell and making costly mistakes, including in Las Vegas where errors in Q3 dashed his chances of a pole position and potential race victory.

The 39-year-old has been candid about his struggles, describing himself as “definitely not fast anymore” after underwhelming qualifying performances in Qatar.

His comments, which hint at a wavering self-belief, have raised concerns about his readiness to compete at Ferrari.

Jordan warned that a lack of confidence could compromise Hamilton’s performance, saying, “If you don’t believe 100%, you’re f—–.”

Jordan advised Ferrari to prioritize Hamilton’s mindset over his legacy, emphasizing that even the slightest doubt could be detrimental.

He also addressed Hamilton directly, suggesting the legendary driver consider retiring gracefully rather than risking his reputation.

“You are, in most people’s view, the greatest driver of all time,” Jordan said, urging Hamilton to focus on other passions, such as music and fashion, and make the best exit from F1 while his legacy remains intact.

While Hamilton could still surpass Russell in the standings with one final win, Mercedes’ inconsistent performance makes such a scenario unlikely.

If Hamilton’s rumored move to Ferrari materializes, Jordan believes the team should weigh his recent form and mental state carefully.

For now, it remains uncertain whether Ferrari will proceed with their plans or take Jordan’s advice to reevaluate the partnership.
