Esteban Ocon Responds After Alpine Drops Him Ahead of Abu Dhabi Finale……ReadMore
Esteban Ocon has broken his silence after Alpine F1 made the unexpected decision to release him before the season finale in Abu Dhabi. Ocon, who will race for Haas in 2025, will be replaced at Alpine by rookie Mick Doohan.
The French driver’s dismissal comes as Alpine battles with Haas and Red Bull for P6 in the Constructors’ Championship, boosted by recent strong performances. Pierre Gasly’s double podium in Brazil and points in Qatar helped solidify Alpine’s standings, but Ocon’s early departure has raised eyebrows across the paddock.
In a heartfelt statement shared on X, Ocon expressed gratitude toward the team and reflected on his five-year journey with Alpine, during which he achieved the team’s best results since its return to Formula 1.
“I would like to first and foremost thank the mechanics and engineers across all functions at the track, Enstone, and Viry-Châtillon who have raced alongside me these last five seasons,” he wrote. “We have shared so much together, and I am proud to call many of you my friends.”
Ocon highlighted his pride in securing podium finishes in Bahrain, Hungary, and Brazil, as well as contributing to Alpine’s P4 finish in the Constructors’ Championship in 2022.
Reflecting on the current season, Ocon acknowledged the challenges, particularly in the latter half of the year, but remained positive about his efforts.
“This season has not been an easy year on track, with the second half being especially difficult,” he admitted. “I do not regret a single thing knowing I gave it 100% every single session, like I always have.”
Ocon also shared images of the special helmet he had intended to use in Abu Dhabi, which would have marked his final race with the team. While he may not get the chance to wear it in competition, his statement resonated with fans and colleagues, many of whom praised his professionalism and resilience.
