F1 star hit with LATE Abu Dhabi Grand Prix FIA investigation
The FIA has launched an investigation into an incident involving Nico Hülkenberg following an impressive qualifying performance for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The 37-year-old Haas driver, who is set to leave the team after this season and join Sauber in 2025, secured an unexpected fourth-place grid position.
However, Hülkenberg is under scrutiny for allegedly overtaking on the pit exit road, a potential breach of Article 12.2.1 i) of the FIA Sporting Regulations.
This investigation comes as Haas fights Alpine and Red Bull for sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Starting high on the grid gives the team a crucial advantage, but the looming investigation could jeopardize their position.
To complicate matters, Hülkenberg will face pressure from reigning champion Max Verstappen, who starts behind him and could pose a threat in the opening laps.
Meanwhile, McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri locked out the front row, delivering a strong result for their team.
Conversely, it was a tough session for Charles Leclerc, who will start from 20th place after his lap was deleted and a 10-place grid penalty was applied.
Lewis Hamilton also had a disappointing qualifying session, exiting in Q1 after hitting a bollard.
As the season finale approaches, all eyes are on Hülkenberg’s investigation and how it might affect the final race outcome for Haas in their Constructors’ Championship battle.
