Haas Confirm Driver Lineup Change for Singapore Grand Prix After Impressive Performances in Azerbaijan

Following an exciting Azerbaijan Grand Prix, one Formula 1 team has announced a change in their driver lineup for the upcoming Singapore GP. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured his second victory of the season after an intense 51 laps on the streets of Baku, solidifying his reputation as one of the sport’s brightest stars. The Australian held off fierce competition from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, showcasing his ability to withstand pressure in a close battle and further proving his potential as a top contender in F1.

In addition to Piastri’s stellar performance, younger drivers on the grid also made a strong impact during the Azerbaijan race. Williams’ Franco Colapinto, who made his Formula 1 debut just a week earlier at Monza, delivered an outstanding drive, securing a P8 finish. This result not only earned valuable points for the team but also contributed to a double points finish for Williams. With this success, Williams jumped to eighth in the constructors’ standings, an encouraging boost for the team.

Another standout performance came from Ollie Bearman, who was driving for Haas in place of the suspended Kevin Magnussen. Bearman, who is set to race full-time next season, impressed the paddock by finishing P10 and scoring a crucial point for Haas. His consistent and confident driving demonstrated why the young Briton is highly regarded as a future star in the sport.

Despite Bearman’s impressive showing, Haas have confirmed that Magnussen will return to the driver lineup for the next race in Singapore. The Danish driver had missed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix due to a one-race suspension imposed by the FIA. In a statement following the Azerbaijan race, Haas announced, “Kevin Magnussen will be restored to MoneyGram Haas F1 Team’s driver lineup after the Dane served his one-event suspension – missing the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.”

Magnussen’s return to the grid is expected to strengthen Haas’ efforts at Marina Bay, as both he and teammate Nico Hulkenberg have a wealth of experience at the challenging street circuit. Magnussen’s previous performances at the Singapore Grand Prix include setting the fastest lap of the race in both 2018 and 2019, with his 2018 lap remaining a race record on that specific iteration of the circuit. He also finished in the points during the 2023 edition of the race, further highlighting his skill on the demanding track.

As Haas prepare for Singapore, they currently sit seventh in the constructors’ standings with 29 points. This position places them 13 points ahead of Williams, who are eighth, and just five points behind the VCARB team in sixth. With Magnussen back in the car and both Haas drivers bringing extensive knowledge of the Singapore circuit, the team will be looking to close the gap to their rivals and solidify their standing in the constructors’ championship.

All eyes will be on Haas and their drivers as they take to the streets of Marina Bay, aiming to build on the momentum from Azerbaijan and deliver another strong performance in what promises to be an exciting race weekend.
