The family of Gary Watson Shearer, a Celtic fan who went missing in Lanzarote over a year ago, has released new information about his movements on the island.
Shearer, from Renfrew, disappeared on March 16 after traveling alone to Puerto Del Carmen in Lanzarote to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The 53-year-old was last seen at Bar 67 that evening, and there have been no sightings since.
Ahead of a new appeal planned by his family, they have shared a detailed timeline of his known activities upon arriving at the holiday destination.
Gary checked into the Oasis Apartments in Puerto Del Carmen and sent a photo to his family while relaxing by the pool. He secured some items in the hotel room’s safe and took €70 from his spending money with him.
A subsequent search by Spanish police revealed an envelope with the remaining euros and a receipt documenting the exchanged amount in the safe.
At 5:30 pm, Gary texted his mother, Ann McMurray, to inform her that he was heading out for the night.
He was described as wearing a Celtic football top, white shorts, white trainers with blue and yellow trim, and carrying a black man bag.
The family hopes that the new details will assist in gathering more information and lead to finding Gary.
They are preparing to make another public appeal in the coming days in an effort to generate new leads.
