Ferrari make EXTRA plan for Hamilton F1 debut

Lewis Hamilton has officially joined Ferrari, marking the end of his long tenure with Mercedes.

The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion made the switch at the start of the year, with Ferrari welcoming him via their social media platforms.

Hamilton also shared the news on LinkedIn, using the hashtag “new job,” and posted a nostalgic photo on Instagram of himself as a young karter wearing a red helmet emblazoned with his iconic number 44.

Hamilton’s move comes after three challenging seasons with Mercedes, during which he secured only two race wins and saw his championship prospects diminish.

Now, all eyes are on his upcoming debut in Ferrari red as he prepares for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

While pre-season testing is scheduled to take place in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur has indicated that the team plans to give Hamilton some initial track time much earlier.

The Scuderia intends to run Hamilton on their private Fiorano circuit in January, providing an opportunity for him to acclimate to the car before the official tests.

However, the exact timing of this session depends on weather conditions.

Initial reports suggested that Hamilton’s first Ferrari outing could occur on January 21 and 22, but contingency plans have been made in case adverse weather disrupts the schedule.

According to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, January 25 has been earmarked as an alternative date for Hamilton to drive a Ferrari Formula 1 car for the first time.

The excitement surrounding Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari extends beyond his fans to the Formula 1 community, eager to see how the partnership between the legendary driver and the historic team will unfold.

With the Australian Grand Prix in March fast approaching, Hamilton’s Fiorano test will be a key moment in the build-up to the 2025 season, as he aims to revive his championship ambitions with his new team.
