Hibernian is on the verge of securing a season-long loan deal for Celtic midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu. The 23-year-old South Korean, who joined Celtic from Busan I-Park last summer, has yet to make his debut for the Scottish champions. Despite this, Kwon made a positive impression during a loan spell with St Mirren in the latter half of last season.

Hibs manager David Gray is keen to strengthen his midfield options, and Kwon has emerged as a key target. Known as “the Korean Rodri” in his homeland due to his playing style, Kwon is seen as a valuable addition to the team. The deal is reportedly in advanced stages, with Football Scotland suggesting it could be finalized within the next 24 hours.

However, Kwon will not be eligible to play in Hibernian’s upcoming Premier Sports Cup match against Celtic at Parkhead this weekend. His debut will have to wait until the following week.

In addition to Kwon, Hibs is also pursuing Dundee’s captain Luke McCowan, as the club looks to revamp its midfield for the upcoming season. Despite challenges, Hibs remains determined to secure McCowan, potentially creating a new-look midfield that could make a significant impact in their campaign.
