Lando Norris Predicts Max Verstappen Will Intensify Aggression Despite Race Ban

Lando Norris has made a surprising prediction regarding Max Verstappen’s driving style, suggesting that the reigning champion will only become more aggressive, even as he edges closer to a potential race ban. Verstappen is currently just one penalty point away from being forced to miss a Grand Prix after an on-track incident with George Russell during the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona.

The incident occurred after Verstappen voiced his frustration over being instructed to return his position to Russell following a battle earlier in the race. The clash between the two drivers resulted in Verstappen falling from fourth to tenth due to a time penalty, and he was also handed three penalty points on his super licence.

Despite being on the verge of a race ban, Verstappen has made it clear that he’s unlikely to change his aggressive approach to racing, something Norris weighed in on.

“I’m sure he regrets the situation,” Norris said when speaking to media outlets, including RacingNews365. “He admitted it wasn’t the best move, and I think he knows he made a mistake. But that’s between him and himself, not me.”

While Verstappen has expressed regret, the Dutchman has also stated that he intends to continue racing as he always has. With a 49-point deficit in the championship, Norris believes Verstappen will be even more determined to fight for every position in the upcoming races.

“I don’t think his mindset changes,” Norris explained. “You can’t predict what he’ll do. I’m just focusing on my own performance. He’s further behind in the standings now, so if anything, he’s going to push even harder.”

Norris went on to note that when racing against someone like Verstappen, it’s hard to make assumptions about his actions on track. “When you’re racing, you can’t just think he’s going to give you more room, because he might not—and something could happen.”

With the championship race tightening up, all eyes will be on Verstappen as he fights to avoid further penalties and stay in contention for the title. Will he alter his aggressive style, or will it be the key to his resurgence in the season? The next few races will tell.
