Lewis Hamilton Calls for a “Holiday” After Tough Brazilian GP with Mercedes Struggles
Lewis Hamilton has candidly expressed his frustration following a challenging Brazilian Grand Prix, humorously suggesting a “holiday” might be in order after managing to finish just 10th. The weekend at Interlagos was difficult from the start for the seven-time world champion, and he left with only a single point to show for his efforts.
Starting 15th on the grid, Hamilton gained one spot due to Carlos Sainz starting from the pit lane. After the first lap, he moved up to 11th, but struggled to gain further ground. While Max Verstappen, who started near him, pulled off a remarkable comeback to claim the race victory, Hamilton found himself in a midfield battle, competing with drivers like Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman for positions outside the points.
At one stage, Hamilton even dropped to 15th after a brief off-track moment, but managed to recover to 10th, securing the final point ahead of Sergio Perez, who also endured a difficult race weekend.
Reflecting on the performance, Hamilton admitted to Sky Sports F1, “We were just slow. The car was really, really tough.” He expressed gratitude to his team, acknowledging their hard work, saying, “A big thank you to the guys in the garage. They turned up super early this morning and did a great job throughout the weekend.”
Hamilton described his Mercedes as “like a plank of wood” with limited suspension, which made the car extremely bumpy and hard to control, especially through corners. “No suspension, bouncing on the tires everywhere, and can’t get on the power anywhere,” he noted, adding, “The worst ride we’ve ever had, particularly through corners. Just so stiff. But hopefully, we won’t have any more bumpy tracks. I think the last three aren’t so bumpy.”
Despite the disappointing race, Hamilton remains hopeful that smoother circuits in the upcoming rounds will help improve his car’s handling. For now, though, the British driver hinted that a break might be just what he needs after a grueling race weekend in Brazil.
