Instead of directly identifying the error, Hamilton quipped, “Just him standing on the podium,” implying that Alonso’s place on the podium was the mistake.

Although Hamilton did eventually provide the correct answer—pointing out that the trophy in Alonso’s hand had been incorrectly swapped with the British Grand Prix winner’s trophy—the cutting nature of his initial response made it clear that the rivalry between the two is still alive and well.

This latest exchange is just another example of how their competitive spirits continue to clash, even as both drivers near the end of their illustrious careers. Hamilton’s record of achievements is unmatched, with 201 podium finishes—the most in F1 history. Michael Schumacher follows with 155, while Alonso, with 106 podium finishes, ranks fifth on the all-time list. Notably, Alonso has not secured a podium finish this season, with his last appearance on the podium being at the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix.
