Max Verstappen has been named the best driver in Formula 1 for the 2024 season, marking an unprecedented achievement in the sport’s history. For the fourth consecutive year, Verstappen received the top spot in the F1 team principal vote. However, this time, there was a remarkable twist—every single one of the 10 team bosses voted for him as the best driver, making it the first unanimous selection in the history of the vote.
While Verstappen and his Red Bull team did not dominate the 2024 season as they did in the previous two years, the Dutch driver still clinched his fourth consecutive World Championship. He secured the title with two races remaining, following a strong performance at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Despite facing tougher competition, particularly from McLaren’s Lando Norris, who finished second in the standings, Verstappen’s resilience and consistency led him to yet another championship.
There were notable shifts in the rest of the top 10. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri made a strong leap, rising three places to secure fourth. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz also moved up, finishing in fifth. Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton claimed sixth and seventh positions, with Russell making a significant improvement by rising three places, while Hamilton dropped two spots from 2023.
These results underline Verstappen’s continued dominance in Formula 1, with the unanimous recognition from team principals affirming his excellence, even amid stronger competition and a more challenging season for Red Bull in 2024.
