Manchester United has returned from their pre-season tour in the United States with several injuries and a defeat against Liverpool.
With only 11 days until the Premier League opener against Fulham, Erik ten Hag is considering starting outcast Jadon Sancho as the centre-forward due to injuries to Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Ten Hag admitted that Sancho might have to fill in up front, as Hojlund is sidelined with a hamstring injury, and Zirkzee is unlikely to be ready in time.
With Marcus Rashford preferring to play wide left and Bruno Fernandes not yet back in training, Sancho appears to be the best option.
Additionally, young defender Will Fish is expected to face a long recovery after being stretchered off during a pre-season match against Liverpool, where he injured his leg in a challenge.
Liverpool, despite having played one fewer pre-season game, defeated Manchester United 3-0 in South Carolina, with goals from Fabio Carvalho, Curtis Jones, and Kostas Tsimikas.
This loss comes ahead of United’s Community Shield match against Manchester City.
