Just in: McLaren F1 sign Manchester United’s popular chef Omar Meziane
December 25, 2024
McLaren F1, the reigning Formula 1 Constructors’ champions, have made a significant addition to their backroom staff. Former Manchester United chef Omar Meziane has joined the team as Executive Chef, ahead of the 2025 season.
Meziane, a renowned figure in the sporting industry, has previously served as the head chef for the England National Team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He was also the executive chef for the England cricket team during their tour to India earlier this year.
The hiring of Meziane is seen as a key addition to McLaren’s staff, as they aim to defend their Constructors’ title in the 2025 season. The team’s principal, Andrea Stella, has overseen several key hires in recent years, including the recruitment of Rob Marshall as technical director for engineering and design in January 2024.
Stella praised Marshall’s acquisition, stating that he brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. Marshall’s strategic focus extended beyond immediate challenges, and his hiring laid the foundation for future success in the upcoming 2025 and 2026 seasons.
“Rob came with a wealth of experience, knowledge from a technical point of view, with a reputation from this point of view,” Stella said. “I have to say that, working with him, myself, the other technical directors, the entire technical team…if anything, we have been impressed even more than what we expected.”
McLaren’s 2024 season was a historic campaign, with drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri leading the team to their ninth Constructors’ title and first since 1998. Norris finished the season as the runner-up behind Max Verstappen, while Piastri finished in fourth position, trailing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
As McLaren prepares to defend their title in the 2025 season, the addition of Omar Meziane as Executive Chef is seen as a key move to support the team’s success. Meziane’s experience in providing high-quality nutrition to top athletes will be invaluable in helping the team’s drivers perform at their best.
Meziane’s appointment is a testament to McLaren’s commitment to excellence in all aspects of their operations. By bringing in a top-class chef, the team is demonstrating its dedication to providing the best possible support to its drivers.
With Meziane on board, McLaren is well-equipped to tackle the challenges of the 2025 season. The team’s fans will be eagerly watching to see how Meziane’s culinary expertise contributes to the team’s success.
