Young British driver Oliver Bearman has expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn from Lewis Hamilton when the seven-time world champion joins Ferrari in 2025.
Bearman, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, is set to make his full-time Formula 1 debut with Haas the same year but remains closely linked to the iconic Italian team.
Bearman, who has been affiliated with Ferrari for several years, made headlines earlier this year with a standout performance for the Scuderia at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Stepping in as a last-minute replacement for an unwell Carlos Sainz, Bearman impressed the F1 world by finishing in P7 at the notoriously challenging Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
His performance at just 18 years old made him the youngest driver ever to race for Ferrari, an achievement he regards as a significant milestone in his budding career.
As Bearman prepares for his rookie season with Haas, he is also keenly aware of the potential benefits of Hamilton’s impending arrival at Ferrari.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports F1, Bearman shared his excitement about the positive influence Hamilton could have on the team.
“I think he’ll bring a lot of experience to the team,” Bearman said. “He’s won seven world championships – that’s something that not many people can say.
He’ll bring a good mentality to the team, a winning mentality, but of course, his talent is undeniable. He’s one of the best to have ever done it.”
Bearman is optimistic that Hamilton’s presence at Ferrari will not only elevate the team’s performance but also provide him with invaluable insights and learning opportunities.
“It’s great that in some way he can share his experience with me slightly.
I hope that I will learn a lot from him and I hope that Ferrari will as well because I think he will be a great asset to the team,” he added.
While Bearman’s immediate focus will be on his debut season with Haas, he remains deeply committed to his long-term goal of winning a world championship with Ferrari.
Having been supported by the team since 2021, Bearman dreams of one day joining the ranks of Ferrari legends who have achieved success on the world stage.
“Ferrari is one of the most iconic brands in the world, of course within racing and F1,” Bearman explained.
“To have made my debut with Ferrari was something very special for me. Of course, I want to win world championships, and to do that with Ferrari is my dream.”
As Bearman embarks on his F1 journey, the prospect of learning from a driver of Hamilton’s caliber only adds to the excitement and determination fueling his ambitions.
With the backing of Ferrari and the wisdom of a seven-time champion at his disposal, Bearman’s future in Formula 1 looks promising.
