Verstappen FUMES at Mercedes star in X-rated rant
Max Verstappen launched a fiery critique of George Russell during the Qatar Grand Prix, calling him “two-faced” in an expletive-laden rant.
The tension arose after Verstappen was penalized for driving too slowly and blocking Russell during qualifying, breaking the minimum lap time rule intended to prevent drivers from bunching up.
This penalty relegated Verstappen to P2 on the starting grid, while Russell secured pole position.
The Dutchman was reportedly frustrated not only by the FIA’s decision but also by Russell’s alleged efforts to influence the stewards’ ruling.
Speaking to Viaplay, Verstappen expressed his anger over the incident, stating he had lost respect for Russell due to his actions in the stewards’ meeting.
Verstappen accused Russell of behaving differently behind closed doors compared to his public persona, describing his conduct as insincere.
“I respect a lot of drivers, but after last night, I lost all respect for him,” Verstappen said.
“He always acts nice in front of the cameras, but in private, he’s a completely different person.
I can’t stand that kind of behavior. If that’s how it is, then just f*** off.”
Despite his anger and the penalty, Verstappen managed to dominate the main race, securing another victory at the Qatar Grand Prix.
Russell, however, dropped to P4 after receiving a penalty during the race.
The clash highlighted the competitive tension between the two drivers, further intensifying their on-track rivalry.
The controversy underscored Verstappen’s disdain for what he perceived as manipulative tactics by Russell, adding another chapter to the high-stakes drama of Formula 1.
