Verstappen unveils F1 BREAK plans due to…read more

Max Verstappen has revealed his plans for a break from Formula 1 after securing the 2024 World Drivers’ Championship title. This marks his fourth consecutive championship win, but it came after a challenging season for the Dutch driver at Red Bull. Despite his individual success, Red Bull struggled with a noticeable decline in pace throughout the season, which made their usual dominance in the sport much harder to maintain.

One of the most significant challenges for Red Bull came from McLaren, whose performance improved dramatically. Lando Norris secured his first career victory at the Miami Grand Prix, and McLaren’s pace continued to grow throughout the year. As a result, McLaren outpaced Red Bull on several weekends, even managing to secure their first Constructors’ Championship win since 1998. In a shocking turn of events, Red Bull, long the dominant team in F1, slipped to third place in the Constructors’ standings, a major blow for the reigning champions.

Verstappen’s intense rivalry with McLaren’s Norris became one of the defining features of the 2024 season. The two drivers clashed numerous times, with Verstappen often adopting an aggressive racing style to fend off Norris, especially in key races in Austin and Mexico. In addition to his rivalry with Norris, Verstappen also found himself at odds with George Russell, particularly after a penalty at the Qatar Grand Prix. Verstappen was handed a grid penalty for allegedly driving under the minimum lap time set by the race director, which led to Russell being promoted to pole position. Verstappen accused Russell of being “two-faced,” pointing out that Russell had campaigned for the penalty that ultimately affected the Red Bull driver’s position.

Their feud continued into the season’s final race in Abu Dhabi, where Russell claimed that Verstappen had threatened him before the race and called him a “bully.” However, Verstappen recently commented that the tension between him and Russell had died down since the Abu Dhabi incident. Speaking to oe24, Verstappen clarified that their spat had calmed and no longer played a significant role in his approach to racing.

Despite the difficulties faced by Red Bull, Verstappen’s fourth title solidifies his place in F1 history, and he now looks forward to taking a well-earned break after another successful season.
