Write, Said Fred: Season 2024, Episode… Full Story 👇
Hello everyone, Fred here!
It’s been a while since my last update, and with the summer break upon us, I thought it was the perfect time to catch up.
First off, it’s been fantastic to witness the success that Lewis and George have enjoyed over the past few months. Every time I visit the factory, I see just how much effort everyone is putting in to keep improving. We all contributed to those wins in Spielberg and Silverstone, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to be part of that journey, helping the team get back towards the front of the grid.
My role in the simulator has been a significant part of this process. By helping the team predict how the car will behave on track, I’ve been able to contribute to achieving the right correlation before Lewis and George hit the track. It’s been a learning experience for me, figuring out how to maximize my impact in this role, and it’s one of the reasons I love being a part of this team.
But I haven’t just been in the simulator; I’ve been on track as well.
The highlight of my racing year so far was undoubtedly my debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours. I’ve watched the race on TV a few times as a kid, but actually being there was something else entirely. The sheer number of Danes and Danish flags in the crowd was unbelievable—the support was incredible!
Le Mans is a race that pushes you to stay right on the edge without going over it. It’s easy to make mistakes when you’re sleep-deprived, and the wet weather we had this year made it even more challenging. But that’s part of the learning process. You have to accept that you won’t always get into the car feeling your best, but you still need to deliver when it counts.
Imagine this: it’s 6 a.m., you’ve had maybe two hours of sleep, and now you’re facing a triple stint. It’s tough, but that’s what makes Le Mans such a thrilling challenge. I particularly enjoyed driving at night—it forces you into a state of complete focus, almost like you’re in a time warp where everything speeds up in the dark.
Just two weeks after Le Mans, I got my second experience of a 24-hour race, this time at Spa. It was amazing to get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for the first time in a race setting. Both events have been invaluable in helping me become a more well-rounded driver, and I’m really pleased with how much I’ve learned from them.
From one iconic motorsport event to another, I was thrilled to get my first taste of the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. I spent four days with the team and the W12, and it was an unforgettable experience. As a motorsport enthusiast, I was thrilled to meet so many fans and see such a wide range of cars. I had a blast doing burnouts and donuts all weekend, and I left feeling slightly dizzy but very satisfied! I hope I get the chance to return to Goodwood in the future.
Now that the engines have been switched off for the summer, it’s time for everyone to enjoy a well-deserved break.
