Hamilton Opens Door to Mercedes Return Amid Ferrari w..read more

Lewis Hamilton has hinted at a potential return to Mercedes as he endures a difficult start to life at Ferrari in the 2025 Formula 1 season. The seven-time world champion joined the Italian outfit with high hopes, but the team has failed to meet expectations so far.

Hamilton’s frustrations grew after a poor qualifying session at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, where he was eliminated in Q2 and could only manage 12th on the grid—his worst starting position since joining Ferrari. Despite updates to the car, Ferrari has secured just one podium finish and a single Sprint race win over the first few races, leaving the team and its new star under pressure.

Speaking candidly, Hamilton expressed concerns about the car’s pace, stating he needs more from the team to fight at the front. His comments have reignited talk of a future return to Mercedes, where he previously enjoyed tremendous success.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff addressed the speculation, reaffirming the close connection between Hamilton and the team. “Lewis will always be part of the Mercedes family,” Wolff said. “Our door is always open.”

Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari was seen as a daring move to chase his record-breaking eighth world title. However, with results not going his way and continued performance issues at Ferrari, a future reunion with Mercedes is now being openly discussed.

As the season progresses, attention will remain on Ferrari’s development efforts and whether Hamilton can lead a turnaround — or if his legendary journey in Formula 1 could once again bring him back to the team where he made history.
