Hamilton signing prompts ASTONISHING Ferrari chief rant…….read more

In a recent podcast, Formula 1 legend Eddie Jordan expressed his astonishment and criticism regarding Ferrari’s decision to sign Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes, particularly in light of the team’s recent departure from Carlos Sainz. The comments came after Hamilton’s final race with Mercedes earlier this month, signaling his shift to Ferrari as he seeks an eighth world championship title. Hamilton had announced before the start of the 2024 season that he would be leaving Mercedes, the team where he secured six of his seven championship titles.

Despite his remarkable career achievements, 2024 was a disappointing season for Hamilton. He finished only seventh in the Drivers’ Championship, trailing behind his teammate George Russell, who outperformed him over the course of the season. Notably, Hamilton struggled with his qualifying performances, often failing to match the pace set by Russell, who outqualified him in 19 out of the 24 races and claimed four pole positions compared to Hamilton’s zero. While Hamilton still managed to secure two Grand Prix wins, bringing his career tally to 105 victories, it was clear that his performance was below his usual high standards.

Looking ahead to 2025, Hamilton will join Ferrari, where he will face a significant challenge in the form of Charles Leclerc, one of the grid’s top qualifiers. However, the move has drawn heavy criticism from some, especially from Jordan, who questioned the decision-making at Ferrari. In particular, Jordan took issue with Ferrari’s decision to let Sainz go and bring in Hamilton, suggesting that Sainz’s departure was a major mistake. In an emotional outburst on the Formula for Success podcast, Jordan addressed John Elkann, the chairman of Ferrari, saying, “What the f*** was he thinking about in getting rid of Carlos when he had a very happy, friendly, structured team that knew how to work together?” He continued by emphasizing the importance of team dynamics, claiming that Ferrari had a solid, cohesive team with drivers who got along well and worked well together.

Jordan also pointed out that Ferrari’s new team principal, Fred Vasseur, had a real opportunity to lead Ferrari to success but would now have to deal with the complexities of managing egos and team dynamics. Jordan specifically noted that although Hamilton is a “particularly nice person,” and likely won’t have problems integrating into Ferrari, the decision to remove Sainz was a poor one. He called the move “absolutely suicidal” for the team, highlighting the risks associated with breaking up a team that appeared to be functioning well.

Jordan’s frustration stems from his belief that Ferrari made a mistake in disrupting the balance of their team. In his view, Sainz’s departure represents a loss of stability, particularly at a time when Ferrari needed consistency and unity. By bringing in a driver like Hamilton, who is undoubtedly a champion, Ferrari has added a new layer of complexity to their team. The presence of a new, highly competitive driver could potentially introduce tensions and disrupt the team harmony that Ferrari had built in recent years.

In conclusion, while the signing of Hamilton may provide Ferrari with a high-profile driver capable of competing for championships, it also comes with significant risks. Eddie Jordan’s rant underscores the delicate balance that teams like Ferrari must maintain between individual talent and team cohesion. His criticisms of Ferrari’s decision-making suggest that in the pursuit of a legendary driver like Hamilton, they may have overlooked the value of stability and harmony within the team.
