Leclerc opens up about ’emotional’ Ferrari change after…read more

Charles Leclerc has shared his thoughts on Ferrari’s emotional and mental evolution as the team prepares for the 2025 Formula 1 season. In an exclusive interview with RacingNews365, the Monegasque driver expressed confidence that Ferrari has become more “solid” and focused compared to last year, which could be a crucial factor in their bid for a long-awaited championship title.

Leclerc acknowledged that while Ferrari has made significant progress in terms of team mentality, the success in 2025 will ultimately depend on how their car performs relative to rivals like Red Bull and McLaren. Despite a promising finish to the 2023 season, Ferrari struggled to maintain that momentum into 2024. They started the year with what was seen as the second-best car behind Red Bull, but McLaren quickly surpassed them, becoming a key contender throughout the season. Ferrari’s strong end to the year secured them second place in the Constructors’ Championship, but they were unable to fully capitalize on their early-season advantages.

For 2025, Ferrari has a new addition to their lineup, with eight-time Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton joining the team. His vast experience is seen as a valuable asset as Ferrari looks to end its 17-year drought without a title. While Leclerc remains cautious about making bold predictions, he acknowledges that the team has the potential to challenge for the championship, but the unpredictable nature of Formula 1 means that performance from teams like Red Bull and McLaren will play a significant role. “Formula 1 is a relative sport,” Leclerc explained. “We can only know what we do ourselves.” Despite this, Leclerc is confident that Ferrari is on the right track, focusing on their own development and striving for the best possible results.

One of the key areas where Leclerc sees improvement at Ferrari is in the team’s mentality. He highlighted how the emotional toll of poor results has been reduced, while the passion and drive for success remain intact. Ferrari’s passion has always been one of its defining features, with every team member eager to push for improvement. However, this passion has also led to deeper emotional reactions when results fell short. Leclerc believes that Ferrari has found a better balance now, maintaining their enthusiasm without letting negative outcomes affect the team’s mindset. This shift, he feels, could make a significant difference in their pursuit of success.

As Ferrari enters the 2025 season, Leclerc is optimistic about the team’s future, with a stronger, more mentally resilient dynamic. While he acknowledges the challenges that lie ahead, he is confident that the team’s improved mindset will be a key factor in their quest for the Formula 1 championship.
