Lewis Hamilton Embraces Bold Ferrari Transformation for Miami Grand Prix

Ferrari takes a vibrant detour from tradition in celebration of their partnership with HP.

Ferrari are turning heads ahead of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix with a dramatic change in appearance for their drivers and cars. For the first time in his Ferrari career, Lewis Hamilton will suit up in a non-red outfit, as the team steps away from its iconic scarlet hue in favour of a fresh blue-and-white design.

The shift comes as part of Ferrari’s celebration of their one-year partnership with global tech giant Hewlett-Packard (HP). In a social media post that quickly gained traction, Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc unveiled their striking new racesuits, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. The design swaps Ferrari’s legendary red for a sleek blend of blue and white, closely matching HP’s branding.

This isn’t the first time Ferrari have experimented with the colour blue during the Miami Grand Prix. In 2024, both Leclerc and then-teammate Carlos Sainz sported light blue suits for the event. However, the car itself remained predominantly red, with only subtle blue accents. For 2025, Ferrari are taking the change even further.

The team’s SF-24 cars will feature more prominent blue and white elements across key components—including the front wing, air intake, and rear wing. While the scarlet red remains a part of the car’s identity, the updated livery marks one of the most distinctive looks Ferrari have debuted in recent years.

This stylistic shift also serves as a tribute to a unique chapter in Ferrari’s history. The last time the team raced in blue was at the 1964 United States Grand Prix in Watkins Glen. At the time, Enzo Ferrari was locked in a dispute with the FIA over homologation of a new sports car. In protest, he withdrew Ferrari’s official entries and ran the team under the North American Racing Team (NART), which used a blue and white livery.

That bold move led to success: John Surtees finished second at the U.S. Grand Prix and went on to win the world championship—the only driver to claim the title in a Ferrari that wasn’t red.

While today’s change is driven by partnership and branding rather than protest, it still taps into Ferrari’s rich legacy of racing innovation and occasional defiance. The 2025 Miami Grand Prix serves as the perfect venue for this visual reinvention, bringing colour, style, and history to the forefront.

As Ferrari embraces a new look, all eyes will be on Hamilton and Leclerc this weekend. Can this blue-themed approach carry them to victory on the streets of Miami? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
