The 2025 Formula 1 season has been far from what Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton envisioned. After making a high-profile move to Ferrari, Hamilton was expected to immediately challenge for the championship. This directive has reignited discussions throughout the paddock, especially from Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff. In recent statements, Wolff suggested that the new TD would benefit Ferrari significantly. He implied that it could level the playing field or even give Ferrari an upper hand, assuming that their early-season difficulties stemmed from not adopting the same loopholes used by other teams.
However, Lewis Hamilton was quick to address Wolff’s remarks, offering a stern and measured response. Speaking ahead of the upcoming race weekend, Hamilton emphasized that while he respects Wolff and their shared past at Mercedes, his focus remains entirely on Ferrari’s internal progress and not external opinions.
“I’m not here to entertain speculation,” Hamilton stated firmly. “We’ve got a job to do, and we’re fully focused on improving the car, working together as a team, and getting the results we know we’re capable of. People on the outside can say what they like, but what matters is what happens inside this team.”
Hamilton’s rebuttal underscores his commitment to the Ferrari project, even in the face of a difficult start. He acknowledged the team’s struggles but remained optimistic about the planned upgrades and the potential impact of the new TD. “We know we’ve had issues,” he admitted. “But we’ve identified the areas we need to work on. The upgrades are coming, and I believe they’ll help us be more competitive.”
