Lewis Hamilton Responds Strongly to Ferrari Doubts… read more
Lewis Hamilton has firmly responded to critics who have been quick to question his start to life at Ferrari, defending his performances despite a difficult opening stretch in the 2025 Formula One season.
The seven-time world champion joined Ferrari this year amid immense anticipation and fanfare. However, his highly publicized switch from Mercedes to the iconic Italian team has yet to yield the kind of results both he and the Tifosi had hoped for. After seven races, Hamilton is still searching for his first podium finish in the scarlet red of Ferrari.
While the statistics may point to a slow start, Hamilton believes the criticism has been premature and unfair. Speaking after the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola — where he finished fourth, marking his best result of the season so far — Hamilton made it clear that he remains focused on long-term progress and believes the team is heading in the right direction.
“There’s always going to be people who talk, people who expect miracles overnight,” Hamilton said. “But this is Formula One — nothing comes easy, especially when you’re trying to build something new. I came to Ferrari for a reason, and I believe in the journey we’re on.”
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was viewed as a seismic shift in the sport. After over a decade at Mercedes — where he won six of his seven world titles — his decision to join Ferrari was not just about chasing more success, but also about embracing a new challenge. However, the transition has not been smooth. The Ferrari SF-25 has shown flashes of speed, but consistency and race pace have been elusive, especially in comparison to Red Bull and McLaren.
Despite the setbacks, Hamilton has remained calm and composed, often seen engaging positively with the Ferrari team. He has praised the work ethic at Maranello and emphasized the unity within the squad, which he believes will be key to turning things around.
“This is a team full of incredibly passionate and talented people,” Hamilton said. “Of course, we’re not where we want to be yet, but progress is being made every week. Imola was a step forward — the car felt better, and we were more competitive. We just have to keep pushing.”
Hamilton’s comments come amid growing pressure from media and some fans, who expected him to make an instant impact and bring Ferrari back to winning ways. The team has not won a drivers’ title since 2007, and hopes were high that Hamilton could be the catalyst for change. But in a fiercely competitive 2025 season, Ferrari has been playing catch-up.
Still, Hamilton’s presence at Ferrari has already had a visible effect. His experience and input have been valuable in developing the car, and younger teammate Charles Leclerc has spoken positively about working alongside the British legend.
“It’s been great having Lewis on board,” Leclerc noted. “He brings a lot of insight and motivation to the team. We’re both working hard to get Ferrari back to the top.”
Hamilton, too, sees the partnership with Leclerc as a strength rather than a rivalry. “Charles is incredibly fast and talented,” he said. “We’re both here to help this team win again.”
As the season progresses, all eyes will remain on Hamilton and Ferrari to see whether their union can blossom into a winning combination. For now, Hamilton is urging patience and perspective, reminding everyone that building a championship contender takes time — even for a driver of his stature.
“There’s no panic here,” he concluded. “We’re just getting started.”
