Lewis Hamilton Speaks Out on Verstappen’s FIA Disqualification…read more

Seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has broken his silence following Max Verstappen’s shock disqualification from the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, offering a pointed response that emphasizes the importance of integrity and accountability in Formula 1.

Verstappen was disqualified on Sunday after his car failed post-race technical checks due to excessive floor wear, and now faces further penalties, including a possible race ban, after the FIA cited a pattern of rule violations by Red Bull Racing.

Hamilton’s Response
Speaking to the media ahead of a sponsor event in Barcelona on Monday, Hamilton didn’t hold back:
“At the end of the day, we all have to follow the same rules. It doesn’t matter how many championships you’ve won or how fast your car is — if your car’s illegal, you pay the price,” he said.
“I’ve been on both sides of this sport — celebrated wins and lost them to technicalities. That’s racing. But what you can’t do is act like the rules don’t apply to you.”

“No One Is Above the Sport”
Hamilton went on to stress that the FIA’s decision sends an important message:
“This is a championship built on fairness and regulations. If the FIA had let it slide, it would’ve set a dangerous precedent. They did the right thing.”

While Hamilton refrained from making personal attacks, his tone reflected the frustration of many in the paddock who believe Red Bull has pushed the limits too far in recent months.

Rising Tensions in the Title Fight
The disqualification has added a dramatic twist to the 2025 championship battle, with Verstappen’s lead now under serious threat. Hamilton, currently P7 in the standings, acknowledged the shake-up:
“It’s definitely made things more interesting. Lando and Carlos are right there now. The title fight’s wide open — and that’s great for the fans.”

What’s Next
With Verstappen’s disqualification confirmed and a race ban still looming, all eyes are now on Red Bull’s next move. An appeal is likely, but time is running out before the Canadian Grand Prix .
