Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari slammed again with ‘bankrupt….read more

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for the 2025 Formula One season has ignited strong reactions, particularly from Dutch racing driver Tom Coronel. Coronel has raised concerns about Ferrari’s decision to bring the seven-time world champion on board, arguing that the team should have focused their efforts on securing Max Verstappen instead. He even suggested that Ferrari should have considered offering Verstappen an open-ended contract, allowing him to choose his own salary, in an attempt to lure the Dutch driver to the Scuderia.

This criticism follows Hamilton’s initial practice session as a Ferrari driver at the team’s training facility. While Hamilton appears thrilled with the opportunity to join Ferrari, Coronel remains skeptical. In an interview with RacingNews365, Coronel stressed that Ferrari’s legacy in motorsport is so significant that they should have prioritized bringing Verstappen into their fold above all else. He believes that securing a world title with Ferrari is an immense achievement for any driver, and suggested that the substantial financial cost of signing Verstappen would be worth it for the team, even if it meant stretching Ferrari’s resources to their limits.

Hamilton’s perspective contrasts sharply with Coronel’s. The British driver expressed great enthusiasm about joining Ferrari, calling his first experience driving for the team one of the best moments of his career. He described the feeling as reminiscent of his first-ever Formula One test, reflecting on how it took him back nearly 20 years to the excitement he felt when he first entered the sport. Despite the criticisms, Hamilton seems invigorated by the new challenge ahead of him.

Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, also appeared pleased with Hamilton’s initial practice session, emphasizing that the session was intended to help both the drivers and the team prepare for the upcoming season. It was not just about Hamilton getting familiar with the car, but also about giving the entire Ferrari team a chance to warm up before the season begins. The practice session was seen as an essential step in the lead-up to the first official test in Bahrain, set to take place in a month, where the team will continue assessing their performance and readiness for the new season.

In addition to the practice session, Hamilton took the time to reflect on the significance of joining Ferrari. He spoke with admiration about the team’s storied history and passionate fanbase, known as the Tifosi. Hamilton noted that experiencing Ferrari’s unique culture and fan enthusiasm firsthand was inspiring. While he had always known about the team’s legendary status, being part of it now has had a profound impact on him, adding to the excitement of this next chapter in his illustrious racing career.

As the 2025 Formula One season approaches, with the first race scheduled for March 16, Hamilton’s debut with Ferrari is poised to be one of the biggest talking points of the year. His transition to the Scuderia represents a major shift in the landscape of the sport, and the outcome of his time with the team will be closely watched by fans and critics alike. Whether or not Ferrari’s decision to sign Hamilton will prove to be a wise one remains to be seen, but it’s clear that this is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing storylines in Formula One for the 2025 season.
