New F1 project confirmed for 2025..read

A major F1 project has been confirmed for 2025, with a significant driver release making waves after a surprising exit las season. 2024 witnessed a whirlwind of driver transfers, with the most eye-catching move being Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes, which set off a chaotic “silly season” much earlier than expected. Hamilton’s switch to Ferrari made headlines, reshaping the driver market ahead of the 2025 season.

One team eager to regain its former glory is Williams. The Grove-based outfit, with a rich history of nine Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ Titles, is keen to return to the front of the grid. These successes were largely thanks to legendary driver signings and the iconic Adrian Newey-designed cars. Newey, who worked at Williams between 1991 and 1996, played a pivotal role in the team’s championship victories from 1980 to their last title win in 1997 with Jacques Villeneuve.

In another significant development, Sky F1 has announced the release of a new documentary centered on the career of legendary driver Damon Hill. Hill, who was a key figure in Williams’ success during the 1990s, will be the focus of a 90-minute documentary titled Hill. The film, produced by Sky F1 presenter Simon Lazenby, is slated to premiere later this year on Sky Documentaries and will also be available for streaming on NOW.

The documentary delves deep into Hill’s remarkable F1 journey, offering fans rare insights through exclusive interviews with his family. It will cover Hill’s rise to F1 stardom, his fierce rivalry with the legendary Michael Schumacher, and his personal struggles, including the tragic loss of his father, Graham Hill, who was also an F1 World Champion. The documentary will also reflect on Hill’s experience during one of the darkest moments in F1 history—the death of his teammate, Ayrton Senna, during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.

Hill himself has shared his thoughts on the project, expressing a sense of relief now that the documentary is nearing completion. “Alex [Sky’s acquisition manager], Simon [Lazenby], and the team have done a really terrific job of unravelling the tangle of my life and career,” Hill said. “It was an unconventional route to the top, but all the more interesting for that, I think. Having watched the film, the overwhelming feeling is one of relief. Not so much that the film is finally complete, but more that I do not have to go through my racing career all over again!”

Hill reflected on the highs and lows of his career, admitting that it was “exhausting to relive all the dramas” but also acknowledging the “good luck” he had in surviving and succeeding in the sport. He was candid about his uncertainty on whether his story would inspire the next F1 World Champion or serve as a cautionary tale. “I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions!” Hill concluded.

Lazenby also spoke about the process behind making the film. He recalled a conversation in Montreal in 2018, where Hill had reminded him that his story was one worth telling. “Over a beer with some friends, Damon and I were talking about sports documentaries we had enjoyed when he reminded us that his story was a pretty good one,” Lazenby said. “Seven years later, and here we are, excited about the release of a film that has been a labour of love for all involved. It’s the end of a very long journey that we hope will be worth it for the audience because it really is an incredible story told beautifully by our director Alex Holmes and editor Cinzia Baldessari.”

This documentary is not just a tribute to Hill’s remarkable career but also a reflection of the personal challenges and triumphs that shaped him into one of F1’s most beloved figures. It promises to be an emotional and captivating watch for both long-time F1 fans and newcomers alike. With its in-depth interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, Hill will offer a unique perspective on a driver who navigated the highs and lows of motorsport while facing personal tragedies and triumphs. It is set to be a must-watch for anyone with an interest in the sport’s rich history.
