Norris drops McLaren BOMBSHELL as exit talks…….read more
Lando Norris has revealed a significant bombshell about his Formula 1 career, admitting that he had opportunities to leave McLaren for rival teams during difficult moments in his early years. However, he chose to stay loyal to the team, a decision that has paid off with career milestones, including race wins, podiums, and a Constructors’ Championship.
Entering the 2024 season, Norris had never secured a victory in F1. Yet, by the end of the 2025 season, he had accumulated four race wins, 26 podium finishes, and helped McLaren claim their first Constructors’ title since 1998. The McLaren team became Red Bull’s closest rival, with Ferrari also showing glimpses of competition. Heading into the season finale in Abu Dhabi, McLaren had an equal chance of securing the Constructors’ Championship, while Red Bull’s Sergio Perez was struggling, effectively out of the title race. Despite a tough race for Norris’ teammate, Oscar Piastri, who had to fight through the field after an early crash, Norris secured his fourth victory of his career, clinching the championship for McLaren.
Despite his successes, Norris disclosed that he had been approached by other teams during his struggles with McLaren. He revealed that he had been offered the chance to join race-winning teams during times when McLaren wasn’t performing at its best. However, he chose to remain at McLaren, driven by a belief in the team and a desire to succeed with the people who gave him his F1 opportunity. Reflecting on his decision to stay, Norris shared that he felt immense pride in his loyalty to McLaren, which ultimately led to his success.
Norris acknowledged that while the offers from other teams would have allowed him to potentially secure wins earlier in his career, his commitment to McLaren remained unwavering. He expressed how happy and proud he was to be with McLaren, stating that the biggest accomplishment was still being part of the team. His loyalty has been rewarded, as McLaren’s success has been built around the driver duo of Norris and Piastri, with both drivers looking to continue with the team until at least 2026, after Norris renewed his contract in 2024.
Throughout his time at McLaren, Norris has developed into one of the sport’s top talents, proving that patience and belief in a team can lead to great rewards. His decision to stay with McLaren despite offers from other teams now stands as a testament to his faith in the team’s potential, which has finally borne fruit with a remarkable season in 2025.
