Juventus wants to give the Liverpool target a one-year contract extension.
Juventus wants to stop Federico Chiesa in response to Liverpool’s interest.
Liverpool is showing interest in Federico Chiesa, therefore Juventus is trying to lock him down to a one-year contract deal before the January transfer window of 2024.
The Reds are reportedly admirers of the Italian winger, who has been linked to a transfer to the Premier League on many occasions. Calcio Mercato (via Liverpool Echo) in Italy reports that Juventus wishes to guarantee Chiesa’s stay in Turin past his current 2025 expiration date.
The Italian giants will try to swiftly add another year to Chiesa’s deal to avoid a tense final 12 months. The prospect of losing such a player for cheap, let alone free would be unthinkable in Turin.
With his contract running down, Juventus may have to consider selling Chiesa next summer to prevent losing him for free in the long run. Extending by a further season would give them breathing room when it comes to negotiations with the player and interested parties.
However, talks over improved salary terms could provide a potential stumbling block. Liverpool may monitor the situation closely if Chiesa does not commit his peak years to Juventus imminently. Jurgen Klopp is thought to be an admirer of the 26-year-old’s well-rounded attacking talents.

It’s also rumored that Tottenham and Newcastle are monitoring Chiesa’s Turin contract issue. However, Juventus would prefer to keep their asset and improve his contract than risk losing him to a free or cheap exit.
After an initial loan, Chiesa officially joined Juventus in 2020 and has since scored 26 goals in 102 appearances. Juventus will be fighting for dear life not to lose Paulo Dybala again when his deal expires in June 2022. Longer Chiesa’s tether would prevent a similar result and buy the Italian giants some extra time.
