Lakers Eye Bucks’ Brook Lopez to Strengthen Frontcourt with LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly targeting veteran center Brook Lopez, currently with the Milwaukee Bucks, to bolster their frontcourt alongside LeBron James. Lopez, known for his defensive prowess and three-point shooting, is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Lakers’ interest in Lopez comes as they seek to address their need for a reliable rim protector and floor spacer, especially after a disappointing playoff exit.

Lopez, 37, has demonstrated remarkable durability and performance, missing only nine games over the past three seasons. In the 2024–25 season, he averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game, while shooting 50.9% from the field and 37.3% from beyond the arc.

The Lakers’ pursuit of Lopez aligns with their strategy to maximize the championship window with LeBron James and newly acquired star Luka Dončić. Lopez’s ability to stretch the floor and protect the rim could complement the playstyles of both James and Dončić, providing the Lakers with a versatile frontcourt presence.

While financial considerations remain a factor, Lopez’s impending free agency presents an opportunity for the Lakers to negotiate a deal that fits within their salary cap constraints. As the offseason progresses, the Lakers’ interest in Lopez will be a key storyline to watch, as they aim to reinforce their roster for another championship run.
