Leny Yoro and… injuries confirmed as Man Utd discover…

Manchester United’s recent £59 million signing, Leny Yoro, has been confirmed to be out for three months due to a foot injury sustained during the team’s US tour. Additionally, striker Rasmus Hojlund, injured in the same game, will miss the start of the season with a hamstring issue, but he is expected to be sidelined for only around six weeks.

Yoro, a central defender acquired from Lille earlier this month, suffered a suspected metatarsal fracture during United’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. In his second appearance for United, Yoro went down in the first half and, after consulting the club’s medical staff, was unable to continue and left the field limping.

He was seen using crutches and wearing a protective boot on his left foot while boarding the team bus at UCLA on Tuesday. Despite being ruled out until autumn, Yoro opted to stay with the squad for the remainder of the tour and will return to Manchester with his teammates after their final game against Liverpool in North Carolina.

Yoro will undergo further medical evaluation in the next 48 hours to confirm the extent of his injury and determine his recovery time. With Lisandro Martinez not yet back in training following his Copa America participation, manager Erik ten Hag may have to rely on Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans for the Premier League opener against Fulham on August 16.

Yoro’s injury is likely to speed up United’s search for another center-back, especially with Victor Lindelof expected to leave before the transfer window closes. United has been in discussions with Bayern Munich over Matthijs de Ligt, who is not part of Bayern’s summer tour squad. They also remain interested in Jarrad Branthwaite, despite having a £50 million bid rejected by Everton, who value him at £70 million. Branthwaite’s versatility as a left-back adds to his appeal, especially after United’s struggles in that position last season due to injuries.
