Leader of Everton rallies against point deduction.

Jarrad Branthwaite will be leading the next generation of Everton’s dogs of war, which are being bred at Goodison Park.

The blue half of Merseyside showed defiance upon hearing that they would be losing 10 points in the Premier League due to a violation of the Profit and Sustainability Rules. Even though they dropped to 19th place in the league, they still have momentum from their impressive run up until the November international break.

The Blues have another list of inductees waiting to be written into Toffees folklore, and with the return to English top-flight action set for Sunday when Manchester United visits Goodison Park, the news emerged last Friday while the team was deployed abroad.

In the midst of the controversy, Branthwaite stole the show on Tuesday at Goodison Park when he joined a select group of England youth internationals in their convincing victory over the Northern Ireland under-21 team.

On just his fifth cap for Lee Carsley’s team, which has previously won a winner’s medal at the European Championships, he led England out at Goodison Park.

Prior to the defending Euros winners setting foot on L4, Branthwaite has garnered the most of attention. However, the Everton defender’s night wouldn’t get any easier as the Young Lions easily won 3-0, with Harvey Elliott adding a brace to Tyler Morton’s opening goal.

Carsley, a former Everton player with 166 league appearances, is a strong favorite of the defender at his old club. He will be hoping to open the door for a senior call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad, following in the footsteps of recent Three Lions debutantes Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer.

Steve Holland, Southgate’s assistant manager, was present when the under-21 team defeated their British rivals on Tuesday night. Furthermore, Branthwaite would have surely dazzled with a poised and confident display at the back to neutralize any threats Tommy Wright’s team could have brought.
