Lewis Hamilton Confirms Heartbreaking Death of Beloved Dog Roscoe After Four Days on Life Support

Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has been left heartbroken after confirming the death of his beloved English bulldog, Roscoe, who passed away on Sunday evening, September 28, in Hamilton’s arms after four days on life support.

Hamilton shared the devastating news with fans in an emotional statement, describing Roscoe as his angel, best friend, and one of the greatest blessings of his life. The British driver, known for his extraordinary achievements on the track and his compassion off it, had often spoken about the special bond he shared with Roscoe. For more than a decade, Roscoe had been a constant presence in Hamilton’s life, frequently accompanying him to races, team events, and even media appearances, quickly becoming a fan favorite in his own right.

Hamilton revealed that Roscoe fought bravely until the very end. “After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe,” Hamilton said. “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end. I feel so grateful and honoured to have shared my life with such a beautiful soul, an angel and true friend.”

The Mercedes legend, now racing with Ferrari, reflected on the painful decision he faced in putting Roscoe to sleep — something he admitted he had never been confronted with before, even though he had previously endured the tragic loss of Coco, another beloved bulldog, in 2020. While Coco’s sudden passing had left him devastated, Hamilton acknowledged that the process of saying goodbye to Roscoe carried an entirely different weight, as it required him to make the heart-wrenching decision to let go.

“Although I lost Coco, I have never been faced with putting a dog to sleep before, though I know my mum and many close friends have,” he explained. “It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet. Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”

Hamilton has always been open about his love for animals, often speaking about the joy and healing Roscoe brought into his life. Roscoe, with his playful nature and signature charm, often appeared in Hamilton’s social media posts and was seen traveling alongside him to various destinations around the world. Fans adored him, not just as Hamilton’s companion but as a global star in his own right, even amassing a dedicated following online.

In his heartfelt message, Hamilton expressed gratitude to fans who had followed Roscoe’s journey and supported him over the years. “Thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown Roscoe over the years,” he said. “It has been so special to witness and feel.”

The news has prompted an outpouring of tributes from Formula 1 fans, animal lovers, and fellow athletes around the world. Many have sent messages of sympathy, recognizing the deep bond Hamilton shared with Roscoe and how significant the loss is to him. Supporters have also highlighted how Roscoe symbolized more than just companionship; he represented resilience, loyalty, and unconditional love — values that Hamilton himself has often spoken about both inside and outside the racing world.

Roscoe’s passing is a deeply personal moment for Hamilton, who has navigated extraordinary professional pressures this season while balancing his life away from the track. The image of the champion cradling his faithful companion in his final moments will undoubtedly resonate with millions who have experienced the unique grief of losing a beloved pet.

Hamilton closed his statement with the revelation that Roscoe died peacefully in his arms on Sunday evening. It was, he emphasized, one of the most painful moments of his life but also a final act of love.

For Hamilton, Roscoe was more than a pet; he was family, confidant, and a constant source of joy amid the demands of life as one of the greatest athletes of his generation. While the loss leaves a void that cannot be filled, Hamilton’s memories of Roscoe — and the love they shared — will continue to live on in the hearts of fans across the globe.
