Ferrari Investigates Lewis Hamilton’s Performance Dip at Spanish Grand Prix

Ferrari is conducting an internal review following Lewis Hamilton’s underwhelming performance at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he finished sixth, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc who secured a podium finish. Hamilton described the race as his “worst in terms of car balance,” expressing frustration over the SF-25’s handling and lack of positive aspects to highlight.

Team principal Frédéric Vasseur defended Hamilton, attributing the performance issues to a potential technical fault in the car’s final stint. He emphasized that the team is focusing on short-term improvements, particularly in the car’s suspension system, and dismissed any notion of shifting focus solely to future seasons.

Hamilton’s adaptation to Ferrari’s SF-25 has been challenging, with telemetry data indicating difficulties in adjusting to the car’s engine braking characteristics. This has led to understeer and compromised cornering speeds, as Hamilton adjusts his driving style from his previous tenure at Mercedes.

Despite these challenges, Ferrari has moved up to second place in the Constructors’ Championship, capitalizing on issues faced by rivals Mercedes and McLaren. The team remains committed to enhancing the SF-25’s performance, aiming to support both drivers in achieving competitive results in upcoming races.

As the season progresses, Ferrari’s focus will be on resolving the technical issues affecting Hamilton’s performance, ensuring both drivers can compete at the highest level and contribute to the team’s championship aspirations.
