Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has praised Wataru Endo for his performance in Wednesday night’s Europa League match against Toulouse.

The French team, who were not nearly good enough to compete, was crushed five goals to none by the Reds. The players for Liverpool had an easy evening, and Endo took advantage of the circumstances by scoring the team’s first goal ever. Klopp was astounded by his performance.

Wataru Endo was bought by Liverpool from Stuttgart in the summer, although the signing did not win over many supporters.

When the Reds made the decision to try to sign the Japan international, they had lost out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, and he was seen by some as a panic buy.

Though he is obviously not a world-beater in his position, Endo is a talented player. He played perhaps his greatest game wearing a Liverpool shirt last night, having started in the middle of the park.

The 30-year-old was exceptional beyond measure. He was excellent with the ball, dominated the midfield, and even managed to score a goal.

His performance last night was praised by Liverpool fans, and in his post-game news conference, Klopp singled him out for special recognition.

“I like a lot of individual performances but I would like to mention Waturu Endo,” he stated, according to Liverpoolfc.com.

“I’m not sure whether it’s considered outstanding or anything, but the forward passes he made tonight were simply amazing, and it was crazy how often he broke lines with a single touch. After that, he scores a fantastic goal, which benefits every player, including the more seasoned ones.

That’s extremely awesome, then. If I had pulled him off, I would have given him a similar hug.

Wataru Endo was arguably Liverpool’s finest player yesterday night, aside from Ryan Gravenberch.

With 87 touches of the ball and 66 of 69 attempted passes completed, the £50,000-a-week Japan international maintained an exceptional 96% passing accuracy.

Not bad at all considering he wasn’t the biggest player on the field, he made five tackles, three interceptions, and won ten of the fifteen duels he attempted.

Although Endo does not typically start for Liverpool, he is more than willing to go in and contribute to the team when Klopp needs him to.
