New FIA Penalty Denies Verstappen His First-Ever C …Read more

In a dramatic twist at the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has been denied his first-ever victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve following a post-race FIA penalty. The Red Bull star, who crossed the line first after a tense battle with rivals from Ferrari and McLaren, was handed a five-second time penalty for exceeding track limits during a crucial overtaking maneuver.

The decision by race stewards came after extensive review and analysis of Verstappen’s on-track behavior during the latter stages of the race. Despite a flawless performance throughout the weekend, the infringement ultimately cost him the win, promoting Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to first place.

Speaking after the race, Verstappen expressed frustration with the ruling but maintained his focus on the championship: “It’s obviously disappointing, but rules are rules. We’ll bounce back stronger.”

The penalty not only robs Verstappen of his maiden victory in Montreal but also tightens the 2025 Drivers’ Championship standings. With the title race heating up, all eyes now turn to the upcoming Austrian Grand Prix as the battle intensifies.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing is reportedly considering lodging an official appeal, arguing that Verstappen was forced wide due to defensive driving from Leclerc. The FIA has yet to respond to those claims.

Stay tuned for more updates as the story develops…
