NEWS UPDATE: Charlie Tyra HAS DROPS A MESSAGE ON COMING BACK TO THE LOUISVILLE DUE TO….
Louisville lands Charleston transfer Reyne Smith.
The inaugural addition to Pat Kelsey’s debut Louisville Cardinals men’s basketball team has been confirmed.
Reyne Smith, the top scorer for Kelsey’s College of Charleston Cougars in the previous season, has committed to Louisville. Standing at 6’2, Smith, a senior guard, averaged 12.8 points per game in the 2023-24 season. He boasted a 39.0 percent success rate from beyond the three-point line and holds an impressive career free-throw shooting percentage of 89.5.
Smith kicked off his college career with a bang, setting a record by sinking 90 three-pointers in the 2021-22 season, the most by a freshman in Charleston basketball history. Additionally, he led Kelsey’s inaugural Cougar squad in various statistical categories, including points, three-pointers, free throws, three-point percentage, and free-throw percentage.
Having contributed to Charleston’s appearances in the NCAA tournament for the past two seasons, Smith has been recognized with all-conference honors in both his sophomore and junior years.
With Kelsey’s evident trust in him, Smith’s comprehension of the coach’s strategies on both offense and defense is poised to be a valuable asset during this transition period. Furthermore, his reputation as one of the nation’s premier shooters adds another dimension to his contribution.
A warm welcome to the team, Reyne.
