Frank D’Arcy, a former Everton defender, has at last received his medal for winning the League Championship in 1969–1970.

Due to his five appearances during the Blues’ championship run, D’Arcy was not eligible for a medal at the end of the season until recently.

But Everton acted fast to order and pay for gongs for D’Arcy, Roger Kenyon (also 69/70), Paul Wilkinson (84/85) and Warren Aspinall (86/87) after the Football League recently changed the eligibility requirements.

Ian Snodin, the winner of the 1986–1987 championship, gives D’Arcy his medal at home. He is the last of the four to take it.

When the Club informed me that I deserved a medal, I was ecstatic,” D’Arcy remarked. It’s taken me a while to get it, but now that I do, it means the world to me. Those were fantastic times, and I’m honored to have been a member of the Everton team that took home the championship.

D’Arcy, who played with players like Jimmy Husband and John Hurst in the 1964–1965 FA Youth Cup winning squad, made a total of eighteen senior games for Everton.

A week before an FA Cup semi-final, in 1966, Harry Catterick played a drastically altered lineup, and he made his senior team debut at Elland Road against Leeds United. That day, Derek Smith and Gerry Humphreys also took their bows.

D’Arcy moved into non-league football with Kirkby Town after spending a brief time with Tranmere Rovers following his departure from Everton.
