Remember Monday’s Eurovision entry song What The Hell Just Happened? chronicles the aftermath of a fun night out with friends, it perfectly showcases the band’s humour, relatability and their signature harmonies. The song, which is out now, is an upbeat pop track full of energy, excitement and drama.

Remember Monday co-wrote the song with Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard.

BRIT Award nominees, Billen Ted, have worked with Little Mix, Anne Marie, MNEK and Armin van Buuren to name a few. Thomas Stengaard previously wrote Denmark’s 2013 Eurovision winning song Only Teardrops. Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard is both a multi-platinum songwriter and a successful experimental pop artist in her own right.

As well as their own brand of empowering pop, Remember Monday have become renowned for their viral melodies on social media. They’ve amassed over half a million loyal followers and 11.3 million likes on TikTok alone. The band have skilfully crafted playful a capella takes on the songs of a wide range of artists from Sabrina Carpenter, Queen and Shania Twain, to Wicked.

Remember Monday are no strangers to performing in front of live audiences. Friends since they met at sixth form in 2013, they are regulars on the music festival circuit, and last year played their first sellout tour across the UK. In addition, the girls each have individual impressive musical theatre backgrounds, and prior to their decision to quit their day jobs and become full time band members in 2023, they have appeared in musical theatre productions that include West End productions of Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera (Holly), Mary Poppins (Charlotte), and Matilda (Lauren), who also had a lead role in the nationwide tour of SIX The Musical.

To date, Remember Monday have released two EPs and twelve singles with a focus on their epic three-way harmonies and clever, heartfelt and authentic songwriting. With growing radio, press and media support, the band received national radio play on Scott Mills’ Afternoon Show on BBC Radio 2 in 2024.

Remember Monday first hit our TV screens in 2019 when they reached the Quarter-Finals on The Voice UK. Their coach on the show, the Grammy, Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe winning singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson, continues to mentor and support the band, inviting them to perform on her US chat show last year, where they wowed the US audience.

Remember Monday say: “What The Hell Just Happened is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is “I wanna be a pop star”, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild. We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage….We honestly can’t wait to experience this with all of the other incredible artists from around the world, and hopefully make everyone back at home feel proud! This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home!”

Leading UK music industry figure, David May, Founder of FIFTEEN 04, led this year’s search alongside Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer, BBC Studios North and Head of Delegation for the UK.

David May says: “I’ve had the pleasure of working across multiple areas of the music industry for nearly two decades. Every now and then, you meet an artist on the verge of turning into something truly outstanding and inspiring. That is Remember Monday: a true class act and a combination of vocal prowess, charisma, professionalism, and unwavering drive. It’s our job to help them reach their full potential, and it’s one I will take great pride in.”

Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment at the BBC says: “The BBC could not be prouder to have the powerhouse that is Remember Monday representing the UK at Eurovision in Basel in 2025. Charlotte, Holly and Lauren are all incredibly talented singers, songwriters and performers who have such a unique sound. The calibre of their live vocals is second to none and I am certain that their chemistry, drive and charisma will translate on an international stage with What The Hell Just Happened?.”

Suzy Lamb, Managing Director, BBC Studios Entertainment Productions says: “We at BBC Studios are over the moon to be working with Remember Monday. From the moment we met them, their energy, authenticity and passion for music was incredibly infectious and we can’t wait for the rest of Europe and beyond to fall in love with them. The song is a real ear worm and shows off their amazing vocals and flawless harmonies. Next stop Basel!”

What The Hell Just Happened? will be released through independent music and entertainment company The Other Songs. Since its inception in 2018, their roster has amassed over 2 billion streams, including from notable signings such as the alternative artist Ren and the singer-songwriter Bruno Major. More recently, The Other Songs established a joint venture with dance music tastemaker Fish56Octagon.

Co-founders of The Other Songs, Alastair and Billy Webber, say: “It’s been a decade since an independent label released a UK Eurovision song, so the moment we heard this unapologetic anthem, we knew The Other Songs had to get behind it in a big way. The girls are brilliant and the song is undeniable. Game on.”

The 69th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Basel, Switzerland following Nemo’s victory at the Grand Final in May 2024 with their song The Code.

The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will take place in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, on Saturday 17 May with the Semi-Finals taking place on Tuesday 13 and Thursday 15 May.
