Ferrari linked with new… signing after Newey deal… Read More.

Ferrari is reportedly considering hiring former Mercedes chief technical officer Mike Elliott after talks with Adrian Newey fell through.

This follows Newey’s decision to leave Red Bull next season, with rumours suggesting Aston Martin has offered him $100 million.

Elliott, who left Mercedes in October last year after a 23-year tenure in Formula 1, is being considered to replace Enrico Cardile at Ferrari.

Cardile recently moved to Aston Martin. During his time at Mercedes, Elliott was instrumental in the team’s seven championship doubles from 2014 to 2020 and their Constructors’ title in 2021.

Ferrari is facing a period of transition, with key technical staff changes underway. There is speculation that Elliott might be Ferrari’s choice for Cardile’s former role, especially since Ferrari has mentioned considering a “Mister X” who is not Italian.

Elliott is currently on gardening leave and would be available to join a new team at the beginning of next year.

In addition to Elliott, Ferrari has also recruited long-time Mercedes engineer Loic Serra, who will become Ferrari’s Head of Chassis Performance Engineering in October.

Moreover, Lewis Hamilton is set to join Ferrari next season.

Ferrari’s team boss, Fred Vasseur, has remained tight-lipped about who will replace Cardile.

During the Belgian Grand Prix, he mentioned that an announcement regarding the new organization will be made after the summer break.

Vasseur emphasized that the team comprises over 200 people and that the departure of one individual does not constitute a crisis.

When pressed about potential candidates, he hinted at having a few names in mind, each with five letters.

Amidst these changes, Diego Tondi has updated his LinkedIn profile to reflect a promotion from Head of Aerodynamic Development to Ferrari’s Head of Aerodynamics, though the team has not yet officially confirmed this move.

Ferrari’s managerial reshuffle and the potential addition of Elliott signal significant strategic adjustments as they head into the latter half of the 2024 season.
