Dak Prescott: Being the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback is not my main goal.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is nearing the end of his current contract, expressed openness to remaining with the team without demanding a record-breaking deal. Speaking at a charity event, Prescott mentioned discussions with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones regarding his contract status but clarified that formal negotiations haven’t commenced.

“I’m not fixated on being the highest-paid,” Prescott stated. “When negotiations start, we’ll assess what’s best for the team.” He also conveyed readiness to explore free agency if necessary, asserting, “I’m comfortable with either scenario. My priority is contributing to the team’s success, whether it’s here or elsewhere.”

Acknowledging the potential risks of playing under a short-term contract, Prescott reflected on his recovery from a previous injury sustained while on a one-year franchise tag in 2020. Despite the setback, he ultimately secured a substantial deal with the Cowboys in 2021. As he approaches another contractual crossroads, Prescott’s future in Dallas and his potential salary rank in the NFL remain uncertain.
