Celtic have expressed deep condolences following the passing of Neil Lennon’s mother, Ursula, as confirmed by the former manager on Sunday.
This loss is felt deeply by Lennon and the Celtic community.
Lennon, recently appointed as the manager of Rapid Bucharest, returned to Scotland on Saturday due to a “family emergency.”
Rapid Bucharest disclosed that Ursula had been in a very serious condition after several weeks in the hospital.
Lennon shared, “My beautiful mother, Ursula, passed away this morning at 10:51.”
Celtic paid tribute on social media, stating: “The heartfelt thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Football Club are with our former captain and manager, Neil Lennon, and his family following the sad passing of Neil’s beloved mother, Ursula, earlier today. RIP, Ursula.”
Rapid Bucharest have temporarily appointed assistant coach Iain Brunksill while Lennon processes this tragic news.
The club also expressed their condolences, saying: “Our coach’s mother passed away this morning.
