Spencer Webb, a talented football player for the University of Oregon, passed away on Wednesday after hitting his head on a rock slide, according to officials.

His age was twenty-two.

About 35 miles west of the university’s Eugene campus, Webb, a tight end for the Ducks, went down on the slides west of Triangle Lake.

Bystanders and paramedics were unable to revive him when deputies arrived at the site at 2:30 p.m., according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities claimed that after he was discovered “approximately 100 yards down a steep trail,” search and rescue workers helped to return him to the road.

The sheriff’s office stated, “His death appears to be accidental and there is no evidence of foul play.”
