Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is sidelined with swelling in his right elbow and may MISS… Read More 👇

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is set to miss Friday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox due to swelling in the back of his right elbow. This unexpected development follows an incident a few days ago where Bregman slept on his arm incorrectly, leading to the discomfort. Although Bregman underwent an MRI, the results showed no significant damage, and the player remains optimistic about a quick return to action after a short period of rest.

Before the Astros kicked off their series against the White Sox, Bregman expressed his frustration over the situation, especially considering his current form at the plate. “Obviously, it’s pretty unfortunate because I’m swinging the bat really well right now,” Bregman shared. “I’m playing really well. So, hopefully, I can come back in a few days and be ready to roll.”

Despite the setback, Bregman emphasized that the issue is not expected to have any long-term effects. He is confident that with a few days of rest, he will be ready to get back on the field. “But this has no long-term effect or anything like that,” he added. “It’s just something I’ve got to knock out right now and then get back to playing.”

While Bregman might miss the entirety of the weekend series against the White Sox, there is hope that he could return in time for the start of Monday’s series against the Boston Red Sox. The Astros will be keen to have him back in the lineup as soon as possible, given his recent hot streak at the plate.

Bregman has been a critical component of the Astros’ offense this season, boasting a .261 batting average with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs. His recent performance has been particularly impressive, with the third baseman homering in four of his last five games. During this stretch, he has also contributed six RBIs and tallied 11 hits, making him one of the most productive hitters in the Astros’ lineup.

His recent success did not go unnoticed, as Bregman was named co-American League Player of the Week last week, sharing the honor with his teammate Yordan Alvarez. Over six games, Bregman hit an impressive .444 with three doubles, three home runs, and six RBIs, finishing the week with a stellar 1.389 OPS. This recognition underscores just how vital Bregman has been to the Astros’ recent success, and his absence, even if brief, will be felt by the team.

The Astros will have to adjust their lineup in Bregman’s absence, potentially giving other players an opportunity to step up and fill the void. However, the team and fans alike will be eagerly awaiting his return, especially given the importance of the upcoming games against the Red Sox, as the Astros continue to push for a strong finish to the season.

For now, Bregman is focused on his recovery and getting back to full strength. While the situation is undoubtedly frustrating for him, his positive outlook and confidence in a swift return suggest that this is only a minor setback in what has been an otherwise outstanding stretch for the Astros’ star third baseman.
