Perez BOMBSHELL drops as F1 team sign NEW driver for 2025

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez has hinted at behind-the-scenes complexities influencing his contract renewal, despite widespread speculation over his future with the team.

Perez’s underwhelming 2024 performance has fueled rumors of a potential replacement, as he struggles to keep pace with teammate Max Verstappen and the field.

His current contract extends until the end of 2026, but questions remain about whether he will see it through.

Perez has failed to secure a podium finish since April and has collected only 13 points in the last seven races.

Currently eighth in the drivers’ standings, he lags a staggering 251 points behind Verstappen, who has clinched the championship even amid Red Bull’s challenges this season.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko recently suggested that the team is considering its options, with AlphaTauri drivers Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda reportedly in a direct contest for Perez’s seat.

Additionally, rumors have linked Red Bull with a potential deal for Williams star Franco Colapinto.

Marko indicated that a decision on Perez’s future would be made after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as part of broader lineup discussions.

Addressing the media ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix, Perez defended his value to the team, emphasizing that Red Bull’s decision to extend his contract earlier this year was based on a comprehensive understanding of internal dynamics and not solely on his championship performance.

“The team has all the information,” Perez stated.

“There’s a reason why my contract was renewed during the year. Internally, we know exactly where we stand, in terms of performance and the issues we’ve faced. We’re working hard as a team to bounce back stronger next season.”

While Perez acknowledged his disappointing campaign, he stressed the collaborative effort within the team to address the challenges and improve results.

Despite rumors of his replacement, Perez’s comments suggest that Red Bull’s leadership recognizes factors beyond on-track results when assessing his role.

As speculation about Red Bull’s 2025 driver lineup intensifies, Perez’s future remains uncertain.

However, his remarks underline his confidence in the team’s support and their shared determination to turn their fortunes around.
